  • NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Glow Review

    Chapter 268 - Quick Review

This blusher was given by Lynn. She knew that I wanted something from NYX but I didn't know what to take in and I've been hunting good cream blusher. I was so happy to receive this from her, it made me so excited about it. She told me that this shade is one of many favorites. Thanks so much for this cream blush!

The packaging looks very similar to MAC's packaging, looks simple, classy and elegant. It weigh at 6.0grams with a flip top lid and will last for 9 months upon opening. It's cruelty free or hypoallergenic. The pink seems quite dark, what till you look at the swatch.

Although it looks quite a deep color from it's pan but it turn out to be soft playful pink and it finish off matte. Many of you know that I have oily skin but this last me very long by using it alone, maybe at 5-6 hours? It's quite impressive for skin type like me. Imagine how lasting it is if I use it as a blush base. It does has a mild wax smell though. It's very pigmented and easy to pick up. I simply use my fingertip to dab into the pan and pat it evenly on my cheeks and I'm done. I know it's not advisable to dip my fingers in but I have not found any good blush brush yet. I'm looking upon ordinary and angled blush brush. Since I only need to use just a little on my cheeks, this blusher is going to last me forever which is pretty economical.

The ingredients for this blusher are:
Ceresin wax, Microcrystalline wax, Polythylene wax, Beeswax, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Mineral Oils, Isopropy Myristate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Lanolin, Diisostearyl malate, Corn starch modifited, Mica, Silica, Titanium dioxide, Butylated hydroxy anisole, Propyl paraben.

I don't really have any irritations from it. Unless if you have any allergic towards any ingredients above, its definitely safe to use this blusher. It's only for USD7 in NYX Cosmetics.

    PROs:
    Very pigmented
    Easy pick up
    Matte finish
Last up to 5-6 hours for oily skin types
    Economical

    CONs:
    Not available in Malaysia.

    My rating: 4.8/5

  • Hottest Female Blogger Award

    Chapter 267 - Award~!

I appreciate so much that Dee and Lynn nominated me for this award and I love it so much. It looks like how I relaxed myself after a day of tired working but I don't have my personal sofa in my room so I rest on my bed instead. Hottest blogger? Are you guys sure about this? How can you even tell?

The award comes together with a few questions...

What books are on your favourite shelf?
I'm no longer studying and I only have magazines on my shelf right now. There's Cleo (Malaysia Editions), Female(Malaysia Editions), Shout (UK), old Girlfriend (Australia) and some catalogs from cosway, Watsons and some beauty booklets. I have some comics kept in the cupboard too.

What DVDs are on your favourite shelf?
Horror movies like Shutter(Thailand) and Ju-On(Japanese) Prequel, Part 1 and Part Two, korean movies like She's on Duty.

What are your two favourite cook books?
Honestly I don't have any and I usually get recipe on the net. Unless if I've found any interesting recipe on newspapers or magazine, I collect them and keep them nicely.

Select 1-3 recipes you will cook for your special guest
I'm more on a dessert person, I think I will prepare cakes, and other cup desserts. Salad is pretty easy to make, toss around with any fresh vegetable, add some olive oil and a little of salt and black pepper would do. It's very simple, anyone can do that.

What we will be be drinking that's available?
Fresh juice, chocolate, plain water with lemon, Frangelico with milk (my favourite!) and green tea (calm my senses while working)

Welcome to the nominees on my virtual slumber party-like. Would you like to come?

    Melinda Rudy
    Jenn
    Sue
    Tine
    Elyn
    Xin
    Vonnie
    Addy

Grab this award and share it with everyone ya!

Oh yeah, just a reminder. I'm not able to do update everyday anymore. I know I have slowed down on my blog and Youtube updates. Recently started working, I don't have much time as before. I do get tired after a long day of working. I'm trying to cope and my skin isn't coping with me. Urgh~ for those who are studying, enjoy your life there although it could filled with stressful assignment deadlines and exams, for those who are working, I totally understand how it feels like but it isn't too bad either. Whichever you are, just stay positive although you know that it would be a hard day ahead of you. Always use the word 'smart' from what you think and what you do. It will help you to save a lot of time and energy.

  • Life & Companion Crease Brush VS ELF Professional Blending Eye Brush Review

    Chapter 266 - Quick Review

This time is a comparison of brush between Life & Companion Crease Brush and ELF Blending Eye Brush. I've already reviewed, the ELF Blending Eye Brush. Maybe not many of us are aware of the brush Life & Companion Crease Brush. This brush can be found in Carrefour Malaysia and they have quite a range of brushes but crease and eyeshadow brush stands out the most. I already have a few eyeshadow brush so I opted only for the crease brush. Please bare in mind these brush are not available in all Carrefours. The one located in Jalan Peel, Cheras doesn't have these brushes. I found them in Carrefour Subang Jaya and they have heaps of it there.

Life & Companion Crease Brush was priced at only RM8+. It's short handled and suitable for traveling because it's no bigger than a palm size unless you have a tiny pair of hand. The bristles are soft and gentle just like the ELF. As you can see in the picture, it's tapered but the shape is not as tapered as ELF's. ELF's seems much more pointy while Life & Companion's look much more rounded. However ELF brush makes a greater blending because of the density. Life & Companion's may be able to still blend provided you know which edge of the brush use and because of it's shape almost flat, it also could be eyeshadow flat top brush where you may stipple some eyeshadow.

Life & Companion Crease Brush picks up eyeshadow easily but during the application the eyeshadow outcome is much sheer than it suppose to be. Maybe because the brush is not dense enough and the eyeshadow application is not being concentrated but I guess that it's suitable for those who wants washout  and lighter eyeshadow.

    My verdict:
I would say that the ELF Blending Eye Brush is much better for blending and packing loads of eyeshadow but that doesn't mean that I hate Life & Companion's brush. I still like it because at times I may not want to have the eyeshadow intensity but just a sheer color for simple look. I guess it depends on what you're looking for. Most of the time I use ELF's because I could use only that brush for my whole eye makeup from packing and blending to highlighting brows. It just saves time when your time is limited.

    My rating:
    Life & Companion Crease Brush - 3.8/5
    ELF's Blending Eye Brush - 4.5/5

  • The Face Shop Real Secret Perfect Contour Kit Review

    Chapter 265 - Quick Review

The Face Shop Real Secret Perfect Contour Kit is a 4-in-1 enhancer kit where it comes with highlighter, pore concealer, eyeshadow base and plumping lip base. The concept adapted in here is a professional's secret to perfect, celebrity look and a total solution to different of base makeup.

    Highlighter - Complexion enhancer
Pore Concealer - Texture smoothing balm
Eyeshadow Base - Preventing creasing, enhances the color intensity and staying power of eyeshadow
Plumping Lip Base - Moisturizing lip plumper for fuller and smoother lips.

When I first found out about this product from the web, it should be something like a corrective concealer kit but it turned out to be makeup base for many parts of our face. The size of the kit is not too big, the length and width is no bigger than my palm. It's like a quad eyeshadow palettes. It comes with double ended synthetic brush.

    My verdict:
    - Highlighter
It's beige cream-based highlighter with very fine shimmers. I only use it to highlight my brow bone and just a little of it is sufficient since it's with  shimmer. It really bring out my brow bone a lot but I don't think it's really suitable for people who are looking for matte finish. It could work as a body glitter too but I reckon that the amount isn't sufficient.

    - Pore Concealer
It's green cream-based pore concealer. When I saw that it's name, I thought that it should at least conceal my enlarged pores but it didn't. It just finish off matte without much concealing pores. However, it does helps to control oil a little. I think that would depends on the level of oiliness of your face. I would consider mine as extreme because if I have to blot my face, I have to blot around 2-3 hours once.

    - Eyeshadow Base
Of course, a skin-tone cream-based eyeshadow base. For this one, I had a hard time believing that it work for the first few times when I tried it. It's because that I applied thin layer and it creases. With this eyeshadow base I actually have to apply quite an amount as though I'm applying eye cream on my eyelid and it turn out my eyelid is very fair compared to my face but the best part is it never crease after doing so. There's pros and cons with it. My eyeshadow never crease till 8 hours. I have never try wearing longer than 8 hours, so I don't know how much longer it last.

    - Lip plumping base
Pink lip gloss-like texture but finishes transparent on lips. When I first use it, I do feel a very light tingling sensation but after a few times, I'm not sure my lips are immune to it or something else but it felt like putting on a layer of transparent lip gloss. There's not much of plumping effect or I shall say I don't see anything at all. However, it's very moisturizing and makes the next lip application smoother.

Overall, it's just an okay kit for me. I seldom use the highlighter and lip plumping base, most of the time I'm using pore concealer for oil control and eyeshadow base for creasing reasons. Maybe it's just me, try to look out for more reviews alright? If I have not mistaken, it's priced at RM39.90.

    My rating: 3.8/5

p/s: Please bare with me on the lack of updates. I've started working and I'm not as free as before but I'll still try to fit my time to blog, okay? I'll never forget my readers and friends. Thank you so much for your patience and loyalty.

  • ELF All Over Color Stick Review

    Chapter 261 - Quick Review

Being in a very cute form and multi-purpose makes me want to explore more of this product. Let's see what ELF's got to claim for this:

'3 in 1 color for your eyes, lips, and or face! Get the color that illuminates for a healthy glow, and instantly soothes and conditions the skin for fresh and natural color all day long.' - eyesfacelips.com

I have two shades, pink lemonade and lilac petal. The shape looks exactly like how it does from the web picture, however the actual shades are in shimmer. The content is very little compared from what you see from the web pic. It's only half of the whole stick. It comes with a twist up form and my lilac petal looked a little wracked because there's once I twisted the stick all the way up and it could not twist back in. That's one thing I hate about this product, thank God I actually figured how to fix it back.

Now you get what I mean when I say shimmery? Look at how flashy it look like even without flash? The lilac petal shades comes out like a frosty light pink and pink lemonade comes out dark pink with a little purple undertone with it.

Although water is the first ingredient that is listed, I don't think the product is moist enough for lips. It goes on feeling very dry but the product is very oily for face. The moist and oil is total different thing, don't get it mixed up okay? I didn't have any irritations from it so  the ingredients are fine with me.

    My verdict:
I would say this product is not really suitable for oily skin types because it can be too oily and with the shimmer, it seems like the 'oiliness' that you don't want to have. With this, I can't even dare myself to apply the product on my eyelid. I only tried it for cheeks and lips. The shimmer is too much that doesn't really gives you the glow. The stick is pigmented but physically its quite stiff, I had to use my finger to rub on top of the stick a few times to get the product and it doesn't blend easily. The color doesn't last on my face, maybe about 2-3 the maximum? The packaging is small and handy but the content is just too little.

    PROs:
    Pigmented
    Cheap and affordable
    Small and handy
    Non-irritant

    CONs:
    Content is too little
    Shimmery
    Oily
    Doesn't last
    Stiff
    Not moisturizing enough
Twist-up function error when it comes to the end

    My rating: 2/5

  • ELF Duo Eyeshadow Cream Review

    Chapter 259 - Quick Review

I only have three of these shades which is in Black Licorice, Sugar Cookie and Butter Pecan. Let's see what they claim.

'Express yourse.l.f. with the easy to blend, crease resistant, creamy duo eye shadow colors. Each gorgeous shade can be worn alone or together for a dramatic effect. The soft-blending formula can also be layered under powder eye shadow to set the color in and keep it lasting vibrant all day.'- eyesfacelips.com

The actual product does looks like what it looks like from the web.Only the Black Licorice looks a little darker that it seems from the web. It comes with a screw -on lid which makes opening it easy.

As you can see from the swatches it looks quite pigmented and it's non-matte, totally metallic. It may look pigmented from the swatches but the color build-up took some time, therefore it could look pretty sheer.

This is the ingredient listing for it. I didn't have any irritation from it but this comes handy as always to anyone that has sensitive skin.

    My verdict:
It creases when using it alone because the cream eyeshadow doesn't finish off dry. It stays creamy but I like to use it as a base because it enhances the next eyeshadow shade to be used. With this technique, it just doesn't crease. Just to be on the safe side, please use eye primer. Using finger to do the color build up maybe poor but using synthetic brush does the job better. Blending can still be done, not too difficult at all. My Butter Pecan somehow smelt like 'old cosmetic' but the rest doesn't smell at all. That's just weird isn't it? I still think that it's a good grab depending on how you want to use it.

These are not available in Malaysia. You may purchase them at EyesFaceLips.com or sprees that being held at LowYat.net. It's only for USD1.

    PROs:
    Good eyeshadow base
    Good blending
    Cheap and affordable

    CONs:
    Creases when wear it alone
One of it smelt like 'old cosmetic'
    Not available in Malaysia

  • The Global Premiere of 'The Age of Stupid'

    Chapter 257 - Event Report

Recently, my bf was invited to a movie premiere and of course, he invited me to go. I thought this would be handy for such event to occur. Basically it's about global warming, climax change and more that's happening in the present and how it affect the future. It was a 90 minutes movie and I manage to get the trailer from Youtube.

The movie is very educational and in documentary form except there were some parts, the characters were speaking other languages and there's no subtitles that came along with it. I hope it won't happen in the cinema. They are trying to get screen into the cinemas here. I'm not too sure if the viewers here would take it seriously. The movie is to create awareness to everyone and at the same time reminding everyone about how we actually are the ones who made this.

Most people there are enjoying their time watching this and right after the movie, people are gushing out to form their own opinions on the movie and how we could do our part to reduce on the damages. Part of the advices formed by the audience:

    • Bring your own shopping bag
    • Bring your own water bottle and drink tap water
    • Reduce on electricity usage
    • Reduce shopping complex visiting
    • Use bicycle instead of car
    • Use paper on it's front and back
    • Reduce plastic usage
    • Recycle
In my opinion, certain things can be done and depending how you look on things. For drinking tap water is possible but many doesn't know that the pipe water system in Malaysia is old and dirty. Most of the time the water supplied to every house hold is dirty. If one would opt for drinking tap water, they would need to invest on good water filters and I could tell maintaining it would be expensive too since the water is filthy dirty and when it comes to filtering it, the filter gets dirty very fast.

One form opinion about reduce shopping complex visiting. Pardon me that I have to touch on it. For my whole life till now, I have been living in the central of the city with many shopping complexes. Not to mention there are like at least six shopping complexes near me. Dropping by those malls doesn't mean that everyone would spend their money. It depends on individuals to have their self-control over temptations in the malls. Malls like this can be good at times with the hot weather like Malaysia. That's one place we could actually go for cooling ourselves down. Really it depends on how ones look at it.

Another audience said use bicycle and mentioning his friend, cycle from Shah Alam to the city (approximately an hour drive) to work. Look to be truthful, that it possible but can be ridiculous. People invented car for a reason. If you said use bicycle or walk instead of car at a near distance, it's still okay and I don't think that they could bring in bicycles into the train. Imagine with the weather of 30 degress most of the time and going to work with one hour drive distance, how tired, exhausted, sweaty and dirty the person could be? Unless that person doesn't have any sweat gland then I have nothing to say. I would think car pool could be a better advice.

We, as individuals we could only do what's on our part and that are just small little parts. I would say government, larger environmental-related organizations and/or developed countries held a greater power to enforce campaigns, laws or anything that could help on this issue. Issues like that needed to be consider:

    • Public smoking in air-conditioning places
    • Household wastage - rubbish
    • Public liter and cleanliness
    • Air pollution - dust, smoke
    • Sea pollution - toxic waste

Don't get me wrong, I'm not being anti-environment, I'm just forming my own opinion and I do love to look at nature, that is why I love to take scenery pictures. I just like to look at the details and appreciate it. Being environmental has it's own level of extremeness depending on how far you want to go with it but do remember technology does help us. To a certain level, people are getting so use to it and depends on it at almost on daily basis but remember not all technology are bad, they are usually made for the benefit of people.

Because technology are getting better and greater, they are expensive. Imagine installing a solar panel on your rooftop? The solar panel is definitely expensive and I think that it would cost RM10,000 or more for just purchasing them. This is just one example.

    • Let me know, if this movie were to release in our cinema, would you watch it?
    • What other pollution that is happening in your country?
    • How environmental can you be?

Love ourselves as how you love your planet, we're living here and we should be thankful that we have a shelter to live.

    Chapter 255 - Quick Review

Eyes Lips Face or more commonly known as ELF are famous for its most affordable makeup. Please look carefully at how the brush shape look like from the web.

'Expertly blends multiple eye shades while softening dramatic edges and fine lines. Brush can also multitask – use it to set powder or liquid concealer.

All e.l.f. professional makeup brushes have been designed and tested by professional makeup artist Scott Vincent Borba. Each brush has been ergonomically designed to fit perfectly into your hand and facilitate a flawless finish with every application.' - eyeslipsface.com

If you look at how the actual brush, it looks totally different from what was presented on their website. From the web picture, it looks like as though the bristles look harsh, loose and low quality. I had to think twice when I made my order for this. I think ELF should really update their pictures because the brush quality is way better than it looks from the website. It's more like tapered shape brush like you may see in many common crease brushes. The bristles are very soft and it sheds, same problem occurred with my ELF Eyeshadow Brush.

It can be use by packing eyeshadow on the entire eyelid, blending between different eyeshadow, softening harsh edges as well as highlighting brow bone. It picks up eyeshadow easily and it's firm and dense enough to blend. It's totally functional, not prickly, not scratchy and doesn't bleed. I definitely recommend this especially you're a beginner and on budget.

They are not available in Malaysia. You may purchase them at EyesLipsFace.com or sprees that being held at LowYat.net.

  • ELF Eyeshadow Brush Review

    Chapter 254 - Quick Review

Eyes Lips Face or more commonly known as ELF are famous for its most affordable makeup. Here I have the ELF eyeshadow brush available only for USD1 from their website.

'Specially sheered brush tip absorbs the perfect amount of eye shadow and provides long lasting color saturation. The comfort curved brush contours the eye with natural gliding strokes for easy and accurate eye shadow application.

All e.l.f. professional makeup brushes have been designed and tested by professional makeup artist Scott Vincent Borba. Each brush has been ergonomically designed to fit perfectly into your hand and facilitate a flawless finish with every application.' - eyeslipsface.com

How can I say that I actually love this brush. The dome-like shape brush is very soft and felt so gentle on skin. It picks up eyeshadow easily, can be use as eyeshadow, highlighting your brow bone and/or contouring. The bristles are dense enough for you to control the application. However, my brush seems to shed a little before and after I wash them but it doesn't bleed. I think this only happened to me because many said theirs doesn't shed. I definitely recommend this brush especially for beginners who wants to start on a low budget.

They are not available in Malaysia. You may purchase them at EyesLipsFace.com or sprees that being held at LowYat.net.

    PROs:

Can be use for different purpose

    CONs:

    Shed a little

    My rating: 4.5/5
